From the 11th to the 14th of January, SVP's FIA Historic 935 was being showcased at the Auto-Sport show, held at The NEC Birmingham. After getting a lot of interest, we decided it was time to post an update and show you what we have been up to.
Starting out with the Chassis of a Porsche 911 SC, we stripped and repaired the shell until it was completely bare and ready for the work to commence.
When recreating a Motorsport icon to the FIA Historic Specifications, every detail must be meticulously checked and each part reliably sourced, we therefore began our search for the perfect parts for our build. Our 935 K3 body panels were supplied by the original manufacturer, Kremer, so they're sure to comply with the strict regulations.
A fuel tank and fuel bladder were custom made to ensure it met the requirements, the quality is unmatched.
One thing that helped us was to have a vision of what we wanted the outcome to be. We worked closely with the customer to decide on the livery for the car before work commenced.
We came to the decision that we would recreate the Whittington Brothers 79' Le Mans Winning Livery, due to its rich heritage and success during the aforementioned year.Having something to work towards has meant that we could stick to a suitable plan of action with regards to bodywork and colour schemes.
There will be more to come as we progress further with the engine and interior, so keep your eyes peeled. However,in the meantime, if you want to know more, or you're interested in collaborating with us to recreate one for yourself, check out our dedicated pages on the SVP Motorsport website!
